چکیده

Abstract This work presents an up-to-date model for the simulation of non-stationary ground motions, including several novelties compared to original study Sabetta and Pugliese (Bull Seism Soc Am 86:337–352, 1996). The selection input motion in framework earthquake engineering has become progressively more important with growing use nonlinear dynamic analyses. Regardless increasing availability large strong databases, records are not always available a given scenario site condition, requiring adoption simulated time series. Among different techniques generation records, we focused on methods based stochastic simulations, considering time- frequency decomposition seismic motion. We updated initially developed 1996) later modified by Pousse et al. 96:2103–2117, 2006) Laurendeau (Nonstationary ground-motion histories: application Japanese database. 15 WCEE Lisbon, 2012). is S-transform that implicitly considers both amplitude modulation. four parameters required are: Arias intensity, significant duration, central frequency, bandwidth. They were obtained from empirical calibrated using accelerometric included Italian strong-motion database ITACA. accelerograms show good match prediction measures, such as peak acceleration, velocity, Fourier spectra, response spectra.

Large-scale broadband simulation of strong ground motions from recent and historical damaging Earthquakes in Japan

A recent development of the Earth Simulator super parallel computer has made it possible to realized realistic 3-D simulations of high-frequency seismic wave propagations on a regional scale. Paralleling this development, the deployment of dense networks of strong ground motion instruments in Japan (K-NET and KiK-net) has now made it possible to directly visualize regional seismic wave propagat...

Parallel simulation of strong ground motions during recent and historical damaging earthquakes in Tokyo, Japan

The development of high-performance computing facilities such as the Earth Simulator supercomputer and the deployment of dense networks of strong ground motion instruments in Japan (K-NET and KiK-net) have made it possible to directly visualize regional seismic wave propagation during large earthquakes. Our group has developed an efficient parallel finite difference method (FDM) code for modeli...

Simulation of Strong Ground Motions

The estimation of potential strong ground motions at short epicentral distances (J1 = 10 to 25 km) resulting from large earthquakes, M;;;; 6.5, generally requires extrapolation of a limited data set. The goal of this project has been to quantify the extrapolation through a simulation technique that relies heavily upon the more extensive data set from smaller magnitude earthquakes. The simulatio...

Wavelet-based Analysis for Pulse Period of Earthquake Ground-motions

Pulse period of earthquake records has been known as a key parameter in seismology and earthquake engineering. This paper presents a detailed characterization of this parameter for a special class of earthquake records called pulse-like ground motions. This type of motions often resulting from directivity effects is characterized by a strong pulse in the velocity time history of motion, in norm...

A WAVELET-BASED PROCEDURE FOR MINING OF PULSE-LIKE GROUND MOTIONS FEATURES ON RESPONSE SPECTRA

The main objective of this paper is to present a wavelet-based procedure to characterize principle features of a special class of motions called pulse-like ground motions. Initially, continues wavelet transform (CWT) which has been known as a powerful technique both in earthquake engineering and seismology field is applied easily in automated detecting of strong pulse of earthquakes. In this pr...
